Packaging data management

Packaging content as maintained product data.

For many brands, mandatory texts, claims, nutrition data, GTINs and assets exist only in artwork files, spreadsheets and email. We lift them out and maintain them as versioned fields with clear ownership. From there they feed artwork, PIM, DAM, ERP and web.

The situation

Artwork files are an output format, not a reliable data source.

When a claim exists only in the layout, every change has to go through the file. And anyone who wants to know which articles carry it has to open them.

Connected, not replaced

PIM, DAM, ERP and the print partner stay where they are. We sit in between.

The result

01

Structured content

Mandatory texts, claims, nutrition data and GTINs sit in their own fields with a version and an owner, not only in the layout.

02

Safer variants

Languages, markets and formats access controlled content instead of copies.

03

Basis for automation

Templates, validation rules and the handover to PIM, DAM and ERP only work once the content is properly maintained.

Our approach

How a project runs.

01

Capture the content

We record what content exists, where it comes from and which parts are legally required.

02

Define the fields

We define the fields, their relationships, their versions and the rules a value has to meet.

03

Move into systems

We move the data into templates, connect PIM, DAM and ERP, and put the automated checks in front of it.

Automation

Automation needs clean data.

We bring data sources, templates and validation rules together so variants and packshots are produced without manual transfer.

“A lot in packaging still runs manually, even though it follows clear rules. We automate exactly that routine, faster, with fewer errors, without taking the brand out of your hands.”

FAQ

Questions about Packaging data management

No. We often start with one product line or a clear data type and then expand the model in a controlled way.

We analyse, extract and normalise existing sources. Unclear or contradictory content is managed as defined review and clarification cases.

Not necessarily. Packaging data management can complement a PIM, prepare for one, or form a focused product-data layer for artwork and packaging.

Yes. But first we establish which system owns which content. Without an unambiguous source, an interface mainly distributes contradictions.
